    Smitten Kitchen, 10 ways

It’s March, and wedding season is slowly ramping up in Pittsburgh.  I’m having a great time in this slow time as I’m sure to be swimming (happily) in photographs in no time at all.  Until then, time to crush more of that 20 lists of 10 in 2010. This one, I just completed.  “Cook 10 recipes from the Smitten Kitchen blog.”  This was not hard to do since I’m a big Smitten Kitchen fan and I love to cook.  The SK author, Deb,  (we affectionately refer to her by name in my circles) is a food lover and avid photographer. Playing in the Woods

Last weekend, I spent a sunny Saturday with my mom (Denise) and my husband (Ryan) in Ohiopyle, PA.  The last time I was here, I was photographing an engagement session for Sara and Nigel.  I’m lucky enough to be photographing two weddings this season at this beautiful location.  For now, some photos in springtime…. One of my absolute favorite places at Ohiopyle is the Cucumber Falls area. Here is mom, thinking about Nicki and Dad who have been working in Texas for a month.  She misses them. Mom is a photographer too!  Good job, Mom (even using back-button focusing)!!! Photo by Ryan Photo by Randi.  My mom is so beautiful.…

The “Lawn & Garden” vendors were set up on the first floor of the convention center, meaning I had to bring a lot of my own light to the party. Their exhibitor’s space was huge! One thing that they wanted me to focus on was the Green Wall.  So cool! Close up of the green wall.  I want one. This one looks…

    Seed Saver Exchange

Last fall I read Barbara Kingsolver’s novel Animal, Vegetable, Miracle as one of the books in my monthly Book Club.  The book is a true story about Kingsolver and her family, who only ate local food for one year.  If something was in season, they simply didn’t eat it. It was amazing to read about their daily life, all of which was food related.  While I try to eat local food as much as possible, I decided to go super-local and expand my garden this year. I ordered seeds from the Seed Savers Exchange.  Their mission:  “Since 1975, Seed Savers Exchange members have passed on approximately one million samples of…
