Turkey Bowl 2012
It’s time for Turkey Bowl 2012. Even though Ryan and I are spending Thanksgiving with his family in Minnesota, I was able to attend Turkey Bowl because Nicki set an early kickoff time so I could play before our flight departed. I was watching my clock the whole game and even said to the quarterback “throw it to me–I have to leave soon.” And he did. I caught 1 of 2 passes, which I think is pretty good. Based on reports from Nicki, I missed an amazing game with cousin Lauren catching 4 touchdown passes and earning the MVP award. Go Lauren! What I did get to see was my dad cheating…

Maria and Nathan’s Wedding at Phipps Conservatory
Sometimes, families are simply spectators at weddings, watching what is happening to the bride and groom. Maria and Nathan both have families that are an exception to that generalization. All of their siblings were included in their bridal party, Nathan’s father was his best man, Maria’s sisters gave a great toast to the newlyweds, and everyone concentrated their attention on Maria and Nathan. Maria’s sister, Gina is a talented opera singer who sang during the church and the reception. During his toast, Nathan’s father called Maria a “Bride-chilla” because she was nothing like a crazed Bridezilla. Nathan’s co-Best Man delivered an Anchorman-style flute solo prior to giving his toast. Not that Maria and Nathan asked…

Megan and Tim’s Wedding at St Stanislaus and Heinz History Center
Before every wedding, I ask my clients what they are most excited for on the wedding day. The thing that I least like to hear is “for it to be over” and the thing hear the most is “for it to be HERE!” Tim was most excited for the ceremony, which is a response that I rarely hear from grooms. But he was really excited to be married to Megan. Megan and Tim had an unseasonably sunny, warm, and beautiful November day for their wedding. Tim’s highlight, the ceremony, was held at St Stanislaus Church in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Beautiful light was streaming into the church as Megan was…

Margie and Mike’s Wedding at St Therese of Lisieux
I’ve known Margie for a long time. We used to sit together when we sang in our high school’s chorus group (unlike Margie, I’m not a good singer, unless I’m imitating Bob Dylan or Robert Plant). We had a lot of great friends together in high school and I was honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding last month. Margie and Mike are a great match together, and on their wedding day I got to hear other people tell great stories about them. Like how Margie and her maid-of-honor, Erin made a pact when they were five years old to be the maid of honor for each other’s…

Jamie and Mark’s ShotBox
Jamie and Mark’s wedding guests went crazy for ShotBox. During most of the reception, there was a line (sometimes a long line!) to get some photographs taken. Maybe it was the excellent variety of props, fun atmosphere, or pre-election fervor? Whatever the reason, everyone clearly had a great time.
