Happy Thanksgiving! It’s time to celebrate our fifth annual Turkey Bowl.

This blog did not exist for the first two Turkey Bowls, but Turkey Bowl 2009 was awesome. Those were some of my favorite shirts, being black & gold and all. Last year, Ryan and I were in Minnesota for a snowy, icy Turkey Bowl so I missed out on the 40F and rainy Turkey Bowl here in Pittsburgh.

No fear, we’re back home this year for my favorite event on my favorite holiday. And it was sunny!!!

Nicki always wears the ~~most ridiculous~~ best outfits.

“Who invited him?” is what we say every time Kevin gets the ball. He is so good that it makes us all feel worse about ourselves.

I did pick up the camera for a little bit. I was still on the field blocking for my team. With a cup of tea too.

Bunny Bowl 2011

Though our last Bunny Bowl was two years ago, Saturday was the “2nd Annual Bunny Bowl.” We played early on Saturday morning in order to be done before the Penguins playoff game. By “we,” I exclude myself since I have a little bit of a foot injury and have to be well for upcoming weddings. See, I keep myself healthy for you.

Looks at me like he doesn’t know the rules of R,P,S even though I have PROOF that he played at the Turkey Bowl in 2009.

Turkey Bowl 2010

This year, I knew that Ryan and I would be visiting his family in Minnesota for Thanksgiving, so I was very sad that I would miss our annual Turkey Bowl at Steel Valley. Last year’s Turkey Bowl was amazing, and I really didn’t want to go a whole year without one, so I planned my own Turkey Bowl to be played in Minnesota. Luckily, Ryan has a huge family so it was easy to recruit a whole team with mostly family, and a few friends too.

Today has been my coldest Turkey Bowl to date 7F with a wind chill of -5F to -10F. Brrr! But it really wasn’t as bad as it sounds since it was sunny and clear here during the game.

The trshirt colors looked amazing against the cold, white snow. We also look super fat since we were all wearing the tshirts over our coats.

Turkey Bowl 2009

This year’s Turkey Bowl was awesome! This is the third year for the event and the best yet. Flag (aka tube sock) football played on a 40-yard long field (often crooked) on Thanksgiving morning. Each team has a QB or sometimes the two teams share a quarterback. Only one running play is allowed per set of downs. There is one “first down” progression and everyone is a receiver. Sometimes there is a huddle, but no set plays, really. Pretty much the best way to play football.

Pittsburgh Penguins’ Stanley Cup Victory Parade

I went to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Stanley Cup Victory Parade with my mom today! We got there at 10:30am for the noon event and got a great place to stand near the beginning of the parade. Fun!

Steelers Parade
