Turkey Bowl 2012

It’s time for Turkey Bowl 2012. Even though Ryan and I are spending Thanksgiving with his family in Minnesota, I was able to attend Turkey Bowl because Nicki set an early kickoff time so I could play before our flight departed. I was watching my clock the whole game and even said to the quarterback “throw it to me–I have to leave soon.” And he did. I caught 1 of 2 passes, which I think is pretty good.

Based on reports from Nicki, I missed an amazing game with cousin Lauren catching 4 touchdown passes and earning the MVP award. Go Lauren! What I did get to see was my dad cheating (he wasn’t wearing his “flags” so he couldn’t be tackled), two baby girls on the field, lots of awesome sports-playing faces, dad taking photos on the field, and a great day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Maria and Nathan’s Wedding at Phipps Conservatory

Sometimes, families are simply spectators at weddings, watching what is happening to the bride and groom. Maria and Nathan both have families that are an exception to that generalization. All of their siblings were included in their bridal party, Nathan’s father was his best man, Maria’s sisters gave a great toast to the newlyweds, and everyone concentrated their attention on Maria and Nathan. Maria’s sister, Gina is a talented opera singer who sang during the church and the reception. During his toast, Nathan’s father called Maria a “Bride-chilla” because she was nothing like a crazed Bridezilla. Nathan’s co-Best Man delivered an Anchorman-style flute solo prior to giving his toast. Not that Maria and Nathan asked for all of the attention, but their families were eager participants in making sure that Maria, Nathan, and all of their guests had a great time.

Maria and Nathan were married in a ceremony at St. Louise de Marillac Parish in Upper Saint Clair. The ceremony concluded as the sun was setting, and they traveled to Phipps Conservatory for some night portraits prior to their reception. The reception began as guests were welcomed into the gorgeously decorated ballroom put together by Linda and Jennifer of Bonnie Walker Events and Bill Chisnell Productions. All night they were entertained by the hugely talented studio-e entertainment who amazed everyone at the wedding, including me.

Thank you to Nicki and Sean who once again joined me to capture this fantastic wedding day. Congratulations, Maria and Nathan!

Megan and Tim’s Wedding at St Stanislaus and Heinz History Center

Before every wedding, I ask my clients what they are most excited for on the wedding day. The thing that I least like to hear is “for it to be over” and the thing hear the most is “for it to be HERE!” Tim was most excited for the ceremony, which is a response that I rarely hear from grooms. But he was really excited to be married to Megan.

Megan and Tim had an unseasonably sunny, warm, and beautiful November day for their wedding. Tim’s highlight, the ceremony, was held at St Stanislaus Church in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Beautiful light was streaming into the church as Megan was escorted down the aisle by her father and her step-father. The reception was held at the Great Hall in the Heinz History Center with catering by Common Plea. They kicked off their dancing party by skipping the traditional first dance and opting instead for the chicken dance. Steve from Rockin’ Bob’s Disc Jockeys provided great musical entertainment all night and the truly unique bouquets were made by Botanical Emporium.

Megan and Tim have big families who were really excited to celebrate with them. Nicki joined me to help capture all of the celebration. Congratulations, Megan and Tim!
