Jim lives in Iowa and Ashley lives in Pittsburgh. After years of a long distance relationship Jim is finally getting his transfer his job to Pittsburgh. Last weekend they married and marked the end of long distance relationship and the beginning of close-distance long relationship.

Nicki and I spent the day with Ashley, Jim, and their families at Greystone Fields. We were so happy to be there with them. First Ashley and Jim met for a First Look. Afterwards, Jim said ”I read so much and heard so many grooms talk about how beautiful the wedding dress is and I thought ‘Oh it’s just a white dress, I don’t know why guys think that wedding dresses are so great.’  But then I saw Ashley’s dress and WOW WOW WOW this is the most gorgeous dress on the most beautiful girl ever.” Well, that’s not an exact quote but Nicki can attest that it was pretty close to what he said.

After tons of family and bridal party photos, it was time for the ceremony.

I’m 90% sure that this was Ashley’s idea. She told me she was going to get Jim with a handful of cake.

This happened 3-4 times during the day.

It was a super fun dance party where Jim really, uh, enjoyed the music. Bob from Pifemaster Productions really kept the party going all night long. I heard a wedding guest in the Ladies’ room say “This is the most fun wedding I’ve ever been to. Let’s go back out and dance.”

Their wedding day began at the beautiful new SpingHill Suites Bakery Square. I didn’t realized how much I liked this hotel until I checked out how many photos I included from this trendy new location. Nicki was working with the guys while Lindsay was dressing in her stunnting Justin Alexander gown. She looks freaking amazing!

Lindsay and Justin wanted to calm their nerves and have a great day so they opted for a “First Look” ceremony as soon as they were ready. Perfect for them since Lindsay was tearing up every few minutes while she was getting ready.

We traveled to the ceremony location, Schenley Plaza, where the forecast for rain came true with a solid 1-hour downpour.

Thankfully the rain stopped just before their ceremony. Lindsay and Justin’s wedding planner, Ansley from Bliss Events, had the event all set up before the rain began. Her team did a great job all day.

The ceremony was performed by Lindsay’s cousin (in-law), Ian Miller. He gave a WONDERFUL ceremony with support of music by the very talented Terrance Vaughn.

Their wedding reception was held at the PPG Aquarium at the Pittsburgh Zoo. We took a few photos around the zoo before heading into the party for the night.

I think that cake forks are so funny.

I joined Sara at her parents’ home where she put on her wedding dress. She and her bridesmaids just returned from La Pomoenee.

Nicki was with Mike and his family at the church. He’s getting a last minute kiss from mom.

These next two photos really show the warmth that Sara and Michael wear on their faces for each other.

The church had some beautiful trees nearby, so we made all of the bridal party photos there. Next three photos by Nicki

Once you’ve had a wedding dress (or any dress) with pockets, there is no going back. Sara’s showing off.

After a joy ride in the limo, Sara and Michael arrived at Crowne Plaza Hotel Pittsburgh South. 

About 60 seconds into first dance, Nicki said “well, I got everything I need out of this one” as she flashed her LCD screen at me with tons of great looking photos of Sara and Michael smiling and looking SO happy!

Unlike their engagement photos, we had a hot, sunny day for their wedding. Nicki and I met them at the church where Kate put on her dress. Photo by Nicki.

Kate and Craig took their trolley straight to the Hot Metal Bridge for some group photos. Surprisingly, they ran out of beer. This is surprising since Craig and most of the bridal party members are from Ohio (haha). While we took some photos, some friends went to get some more.

We shared the bridge with some very courteous bikers.

I had so much fun with lighting during their first dance to “Wonderwall” by Oasis.

After dinner catered by The Fluted Mushroom and cake by Bethel Bakery, it was time for dancing!

Kelli Burns DJ Entertainment provided a great set of music for this motivated crowd.

Later, the guys returned the favor to Kate with “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’.”

During “Hang on Sloopy,” Ohio natives spelled out the name of their state. At first (like a good Pittsburgh girl), Kate refused.

…….Then she gave in since she now lives in Ohio. I think this is the “H.”

This is probably the best photo of a groom that I’ve taken all year.

And Kate just realized that she was leaving for her honeymoon the next day.

Last weekend they exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony at the The Barn at Fallingwater that was definitely worth waiting for. I LOVE weddings at The Barn at Fallingwater and Ashley and Cory were such a beautiful, fun couple to have on the other side of my camera.

Ashley had a squad of awesome bridesmaids to help her all day. Seriously, her bridesmaids were so awesome!

While Ashley’s lovely mom, Kelly, and her fantastic sister, Alyssa help her into her dress, her bridesmaids provide emotional support.

Cory was dressed and ready when he arrived at the Barn. Ryan grabbed this shot of him heading out to meet Ashley for a First Look.

The weather was totally unpredictable, but I’m so happy that we had a few minutes of clear sky for their first look.

Adorable and beautiful. Ashley’s dress matches the setting perfectly.

Because of the threat of rain (more like threat of downpours), they chose an indoor ceremony. Definitely a tough call when they planned an outdoor event but they can shift their focus to each other instead of worrying about the weather.

Rev. Mark from A Simple Vow gave a beautiful ceremony. I’ve been to quite a few weddings with Rev. Mark and he does a great job EVERY TIME. I don’t know how he writes such unique ceremonies each time. It was very sincere, personal, and classy.

One of the biggest perks to having your wedding at the The Barn at Fallingwater is the photo session at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. We were there while it was still open to the public and so many people (besides Ryan and I) were taking photos of Ashley and Cory. Who could resist this???

Then we headed back to their reception.

After dinner and cake by Potomac Bakery, DJ Andy Booth got the party started.

First dance!

This may be one of my favorite first dance photos ever.

I know I already mentioned him, but DJ Andy Booth is one of my favorite wedding DJs. Of course this is the Dirty Dancing lift during “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Amazing.

As usual, I started with Christine and her bridesmaids getting ready.    Christine’s makeup by Greg from Lightko Studios

They elected to see each other before the wedding in a first look meeting.  Somehow, we found the one tree in Pittsburgh with leaves still on it–November 13th!!

After a few photos alone, the bridal party joined us for some shots.  I’d like to thank all of them for their patience as I had lost my voice due to a recent cold.  Ryan did a great job of getting everyone together.

Sure, I just posted one of these last week, but photos in the Racer are so much fun!  This one has the added bonus of adorable children who were really into the whole idea of pretending to be on a roller coaster ride.

I don’t often include portraits such as this one, but Shawn is a volunteer fireman and the fire truck was so cool looking.

Onto the ceremony.

This talented musician played and sang an acoustic version of “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin.  It was amazing!

It was a flower girl party!  Four of their nieces were in the bridal party.  They had a great time dancing.
