Photographer Pittsburgh – Pittsburgh Scuba goes to Devil’s Den

This week, Ryan and I are traveling with my family around the great state of Florida.   You may remember my parents training for their Scuba certification in July of this year.  Well, they got their certification (along with my sister, Nicki) and can’t stay out of the water.  This week, we went on three dives (I am a snorkeler myself).  Our first was at Devil’s Den.

Here is an engineering drawing of the sinkhole that makes up Devil’s Den.

Looking down to the dive platform from the top of the sinkhole.   Cool, huh?

The average air temperature in Florida at this time of year is 74F.  On this day, it was barely 50F.  Thankfully, the water temperature in Florida is around 72F and the sinkhole is mostly covered with rocks so it was pretty warm in this hole.

View from the top of the stairs.  You can see the opening to the sky at the top of the photograph.  The orange/red colors are from the lights installed around the cave.

This is the photo dad was taking.  Cool even though there were water spots on the housing.

My family is so awesome!!!

Even better!  I love them!

Beautiful sister

Work it, Nicki.  I finally got in the water (with a snorkel) and took some photos of Nicki.

This is how I felt after that family photo.  Not flattering, but true.

Wow!!!! That is some fantastic scenery. I didn’t know Florida could look like that. I have three favorites. The two with the stairs… love the composition. And then my #1 favorite is Mom getting ready for her dive. Super cool.

    Hi Randi and Ryan!

Liz sent us the link to your site for the photos of Ben, of course. I had to share how much I like the Devil’s Den photos. You have a great website, and it is clear from the quality of your photos that you are doing something you love…and doing it well!

    Halten, die gute Arbeit!
