Katherine and Mike’s Wedding at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church
Wow! I can’t believe that it is already time for our last wedding of 2011. So everyone take a deep breath and take time to savor it because this is the last new wedding I’ll be sharing until APRIL of 2012! I couldn’t have dreamed of a better wedding than this one to close out such a great year for Randi Voss Photography.
Katherine and Mike had planned their winter wedding for the last 18 months. They both LOVE the holiday season, especially Christmas, and they wanted their wedding to feel elegant, chic, and fun. Katherine started the day with her family and bridesmaids at the Holiday Inn University Center. With help from Lisa and Ashley of Kiss and Makeup and hair stylist Sarah Gillis, everyone was looking and feeling their best.
Mike and his groomsmen were at the Holiday Inn as well. I wasn’t there, but there is definitely a “how-to-tie-a-bow-tie” video playing on that smartphone.
I normally avoid cheesy wedding photos, but this was adorable and the complete opposite of those “groom running away from the bride” photos. I can also guarantee that these guys came up with this whole concept. Mike is totally into Katherine, why wouldn’t he run to her?
Their wedding ceremony was a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
Night time wedding portraits are a huge challenge. Luckily, I had done my location scouting and was ready for Katherine and Mike!
I was overwhelmed by the transformation of the ballroom at St Nicolas Cathedral Room.
The first time I met Katherine and Mike, they mentioned they were going to have a choreographed entrance dance when they arrived at their reception. I didn’t realize how epic it was going to be. The song was “You Make Me Feel” by Cobra Starship. The next three images are from the dance.
And their beautiful first dance.
I couldn’t stop smiling when I was looking at photos taken during the toasts. It is so obvious that Katherine and Mike were truly enjoying their wedding day.
Amazing Greek dancing.
Though Katherine is originally from the Pittsburgh area, both she and Mike now live in Philadelphia. This creates a little sports rivalry in their new family, a fact that came out during the wedding reception. Katherine was wearing a garter covered in Steelers logos. Mike had the perfect reaction when he saw it.
Katherine changed her shoes late in the night. From fabulous Jimmy Choo heels to (nearly) equally fabulous sparkly sneakers.
What an amazing way to end our wedding season! There is nothing I love more than to see a couple truly enjoying their wedding day. Congratulations, Katherine and Mike!
