Yosemite National Park – Vernal Fall
Greetings from California! I’m so lucky to have two amazing trips within two months. Before we even knew we would be going to Hawaii for Laura and Donnie’s wedding, Ryan and I planned to travel this week. Ryan and I are taking our vacation this year during “plant shutdown” while he is unable to go to work. Since his work is basically closed, we’re spending our time visiting Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, and Sonoma and Napa Valley.
We’ll be back soon to photograph Sarah and Sam’s wedding in Pittsburgh on July 10th, but please enjoy this week of posts.
First up was our nearly four hour drive from the airport at San Francisco to Yosemite National Park. At the airport, it was barely 68F, but by the time we reached the desert, just 90 miles away, the temperature jumped to 98F!
Ryan is awesome! I thought it was great that our blue/green rental car matched the sky so well.
This was one of our first views of the Yosemite Valley Floor. Yosemite Falls.
We took a quick four-mile hike on our first afternoon in the Park. This one to Vernal Falls.. Everything is wet (including my camera which I kept shoving into my jacket to protect it) but sunny and fun!
Nerds in the mist (with rainbows).
Also called “Mist Trail” for a good reason.
After dinner in our cute hotel town of Mariposa, California
Considering the three hour time change, that was all we had time and energy for on the first day of our trip. We had so much fun already. More tomorrow!

When I look at your landscape photos, I feel like I’m on a conveyor belt being drawn into the photo. This is a good thing. They reelly reel you in.
Beautiful night shot, too. Love the blue and gold lights together.
