Kayt’s Trash the Dress
Kayt and Harry’s wedding had to be one of my favorite weddings this year. Maybe it was because they had a decidedly different wedding with an evening wedding ceremony at Heinz History Center and a cocktails-only reception at Oliver of Twist. Maybe it was because Syncopated Pictures also made a wedding cinema of this event (on which I had the pleasure of being a contributing editor). Or maybe it was because Kayt and Harry have become friends with Ryan and I over the last year. All summer, Kayt and I have been trying to plan a trash the dress session for her and we finally had some time to get…

Lindsay and Justin’s Wedding at Schenley Plaza
Last Saturday was September 10, 2011 — more affectionately known in the wedding world in which I live as 9.10.11. I didn’t realized how much I liked this hotel until I checked out how many photos I included from this trendy new location. Nicki was working with the guys…

Nicki in Nicaragua
Loyal blog readers know that Nicki is my go-to second photographer. She is an excellent shooter, assistant, and all-day wedding trooper. Summer is Nicki’s vacation time since she teaches photography to high school students during the school year. Even though she was working hard with me this summer, she also made some time for a vacation. She had a friend traveling in Central America, so off to Nicaragua she went to join him. I’ve asked Nicki to write a guest post to share her journey. Enjoy! __ Hello everyone! It’s Randi’s favorite sister, Nicki! I just got back from Nicaragua with some pictures I’d like to share and since Randi’s…

Anna and Ben’s Engagement Photos at Carnegie Mellon University
Anna and Ben met in college at Carnegie Mellon. Their first date was at a Pittsburgh Steelers Game. While they’ve been together for a few years while living in Pittsburgh, their relationship is about to go long distance as they separate for graduate school this fall. During one of the few moments they were in town, I met them for their engagement session at their alma mater. First stop for their engagement photo shoot was the Mellon Institute. I noticed this pattern of window light reflected on the Mellon Institute when I was at Carnegie Mellon, in 2001. I don’t know why it took me 10 years to photograph…
