Kimmy and Chris’s Wedding at St. Bonaventure and The Heinz History Center
One of of the first things that I learned about Kimmy and Chris was that they attended rival universities. Kimmy went to Penn State and Chris attended The University of Pittsburgh. There was talk of Pitt and Penn State pom-pom gloves at our first interview. While this is a point of jovial teasing between them, it was more of a humorous binding agent than the reason to start a feud. Being that their wedding day was a joining of their lives, they chose to join their collegiate lives together with a PEP RALLY! Kimmy, a former PSU cheerleader, was joined by the Nittany Lion and led the guests with chants…

Alana and Daire’s Wedding at the Great Hall in the Heinz History Center
Alana and Daire live in San Francisco, but Alana is originally from Pittsburgh and Daire is from Dublin. I had talked with them on the phone before, but I met Alana and Daire in person for the first time just a week before their wedding day. We met for brunch at Pamela’s in the Strip District to review what was most important to them about their wedding. They chose great locations for their wedding day celebration including Saint Paul Cathedral in Oakland (with Daire’s priest from Ireland performing the marriage ceremony) and the Great Hall at the Heinz History Center. Great venues aside, the thing that was most important was…

Carmen and Vince’s Wedding at the Heinz History Center
Carmen and Vince met when they were both working for Fair Trade companies. Carmen was living in DC and Vince was living in San Francisco. At a work event in New York City, Carmen and Vince were the first people to arrive at a work-related dinner when everyone else was very very late. They got to know each other and started their bi-coastal relationship, spending many hours on cross-country flights. Both Carmen and Vince have planned many events related to their jobs. When I talked to Carmen about their wedding, she claimed this event was slightly easier to plan than work events because it was in one language, traded one…

Lauren and Danny’s Wedding at Heinz History Center
Lauren and Danny had a picture perfect Pittsburgh Wedding. They began with a wedding ceremony at Heinz Chapel and ended with a wedding reception in the Mueller Center at Heinz History Center.Surrounded all day by a fantastic group of family and friends. Nicki and I started our day at the Westin hotel. I joined Lauren and her very calm, organized bridesmaids (not kidding about this–they were so calm and prepared). Nicki spent the first part of her day with Danny and the groomsmen. Lauren is amazingly beautiful! At Heinz Chapel When the bride and groom leave the ceremony, they have about 20 seconds alone together before they’re joined by the…

Rachel and Mike’s Wedding at the Heinz History Center
Rachel and Mike really have some great people in their lives. They have loving families and a great group of friends. They had a great group of vendors working on their wedding day. And they have each other. Together they enjoy renovating their classic home, spending time with friends, and cruising in their car. I was looking back at my notes on our first meeting together and I have more notes about the car than their wedding day details! The car is a Datsun 280Z that they take to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix each year in Schenley Park. The “Zipper” is super cool and looked great parked outside of…
