Yosemite National Park – Panorama Trail

Day 2 in Yosemite took us on a long one-way bus ride to Glacier Point and an even longer hike down the Panorama Trail.  From Glacier Point to the trail head is 8.4 miles (plus at least 2 miles back to our car) and -4,000 ft of elevation change.  Ryan tricked me into this hike, but I loved it.  Thankfully we were prepared for the 6 hour tour. Isn’t this moon supposed to be over Half Dome? View from Glacier Point. Starting our hike to the Valley Floor. Seriously,  I was so glad to be traveling DOWN these granite “stairs.” This time we are going down the “Mist Trail” again. …

Yosemite National Park – Vernal Fall

Greetings from California! I’m so lucky to have two amazing trips within two months.  Before we even knew we would be going to Hawaii for Laura and Donnie’s wedding, Ryan and I planned to travel this week.  Ryan and I are taking our vacation this year during “plant shutdown” while he is unable to go to work. Since his work is basically closed, we’re spending our time visiting Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, and Sonoma and Napa Valley. We’ll be back soon to photograph Sarah and Sam’s wedding in Pittsburgh on July 10th, but please enjoy this week of posts. First up was our nearly four hour drive from the…

Jess and Andrew’s Engagement Photos on the North Shore

My long weekend of shooting concluded on Sunday night with Jess and Andrew for a steamy (seriously– it was humid and warm) engagement session on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.  For their sake and mine, I made sure to shoot the close-up portraits first so they would be less sweaty in those photos. Jess and Andrew met on a cruise.  Jess was celebrating completing college and Andrew was on his family vacation.  I first met Jess when she was a bridesmaid in Laura and Craig’s wedding in 2008 (sorry, no link to their wedding as it pre-dated this blog).  I met her (and Andrew) again last year at Justin and Kelly’s wedding…

    Jacqui Konop-Buckley

On Sunday I volunteered my time and photography to The First Annual Jacqui-Konop-Buckley Leukemia Adult Softball Tournament.  Jacqui was diagnosed with Myelogenous Proliferative Disorder/Leukemia on 6/3/09.   You can read about Jacqui’s story on her website hosted by CaringBridge.org.  Last fall, I photographed her and her husband, Rich, who is kind and very supportive.  She also has great friends who put together this benefit to help with her medical expenses. When there was a break in the adult softball game, these kids took the spotlight. There are many more photos in the online gallery too.  All proceeds from online print orders will benefit Jacqui.

    Garden on the Roof

I used to live a different life.  Now I love being a wedding photographer in Pittsburgh.  In that other life, I was working as an engineer for an architecture firm.  There, I made some great friends who have since moved on (as I have) and started their own company.  Origin4Design is a women-owned Landscape Architecture and Laser Scanning firm run by two of my great friends, Rebecca and Laura. Earlier this month, they asked me to photograph the roof garden of the Heinz 57 Center in downtown Pittsburgh.  Rebecca had worked on the design of this space earlier in her career and wanted to showcase it among their new firm’s…
