    Turkey Bowl 2015

Our 9th annual Turkey Bowl was held on a Thanksgiving morning that felt more like a day in early fall. The rock-paper-scissors official was played by my dad, who, after 4 years, still claims that he does not know the rules of the game. Our MVP, Therasa caught 3 interceptions and collected a snazzy trophy! Snack Man Rich Dembski had pockets full of honey-roasted Almonds and Sour Patch Kids (I kept wondering why his shirt was always pulled up around his chest). Next year we’ll have to celebrate our 10th year with a special half-time show and t-shirts that are 18% gray. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Turkey Bowl 2014

At this year’s Turkey Bowl (our eighth year!) we saw that Rich still doesn’t the rules to Rock, Paper, Scissors. If you look at his face in the photo, you’ll see that he’s suppressing a laugh. He’s either a bad liar or he really wants to win. We also saw our first injury, someone finally invited Kevin, and the blue team defeated team “too much mustard.” Or did they? Let the countdown begin to next year’s game!

    Turkey Bowl 2013

Turkey Bowl 2013 was pretty chilly! With a few previous days of snow and an overnight low of 19F, we arrived to a snow covered field and some welcome sunshine. This was the seventh consecutive year for the event, organized expertly by Nicki with team tshirts and new field cones! An event like this wouldn’t be complete without some antics from my dad. This year, he brought actual rock, paper, and scissors to the kickoff competition. While it was a great laugh, maybe the joke was on him because he cut himself on the scissors while he had them behind his back. Happy Thanksgiving!

    Turkey Bowl 2012

It’s time for Turkey Bowl 2012. Even though Ryan and I are spending Thanksgiving with his family in Minnesota, I was able to attend Turkey Bowl because Nicki set an early kickoff time so I could play before our flight departed. I was watching my clock the whole game and even said to the quarterback “throw it to me–I have to leave soon.” And he did. I caught 1 of 2 passes, which I think is pretty good. Based on reports from Nicki, I missed an amazing game with cousin Lauren catching 4 touchdown passes and earning the MVP award. Go Lauren! What I did get to see was my dad cheating…

    Turkey Bowl 2011

Happy Thanksgiving! It’s time to celebrate our fifth annual Turkey Bowl. This blog did not exist for the first two Turkey Bowls, but Turkey Bowl 2009 was awesome. Those were some of my favorite shirts, being black & gold and all. Last year, Ryan and I were in Minnesota for a snowy, icy Turkey Bowl so I missed out on the 40F and rainy Turkey Bowl here in Pittsburgh. No fear, we’re back home this year for my favorite event on my favorite holiday. And it was sunny!!! Nicki always wears the most ridiculous best outfits. Rock, paper, scissors fail. This one is for you, Dad. The purple team was stacked.…
