Turkey Bowl 2010
This year, I knew that Ryan and I would be visiting his family in Minnesota for Thanksgiving, so I was very sad that I would miss our annual Turkey Bowl at Steel Valley. Last year’s Turkey Bowl was amazing, and I really didn’t want to go a whole year without one, so I planned my own Turkey Bowl to be played in Minnesota. Luckily, Ryan has a huge family so it was easy to recruit a whole team with mostly family, and a few friends too. Today has been my coldest Turkey Bowl to date 7F with a wind chill of -5F to -10F. Brrr! But it really wasn’t as…

Lo Fi Photography
Are you tired of clear, crisp, sharp, high resolution images? Well, neither am I! But I have been dying to take some of those wonderful plastic, blurry, soft focus photos from a camera like Diana. A Diana camera is a film camera that wikipedia can define in fewer words than I can. Most of the time, I’m trying to avoid blurry, soft focus, distorted photos, but with photos from a Diana camera, the imperfections becomes part of the appeal of the image. Luckily, Photojojo! has started selling this retro Diana lens made for DSLR camera bodies. So I bought one and I’m planning some art projects for my slower season…

Erica and Matt’s Engagement Session in the Strip District of Pittsburgh
Erica and Matt met at a Halloween party. Erica was dressed as a catholic school girl and Matt was dressed as Manny Ramirez. She claims that the first time they met, she really didn’t know what he looked like. But they know each other very well now and are engaged to be married in July of 2011. We met in the Strip District for their engagement photos on a slightly rainy, very typical November afternoon in Pittsburgh. Erica and Matt are so cute together–they don’t need much encouragement to make some adorable engagement photos. Which is good, because I had no voice. Nicki came along with me for this shoot…

Christine and Shawn’s Wedding at the Heinz History Center
When I met Shawn and Chris, I was pleasantly surprised at the unique vision they shared for their wedding day. They both described how their families were so important to them, so they wanted to focus on photography of their families as well as everyone having a great time. As the final wedding to end the regular season, Ryan and I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Christine and Shawn’s wedding at the Heinz History Center. As usual, I started with Christine and her bridesmaids getting ready. Christine’s makeup by Greg from Lightko Studios They elected to see each other before the wedding in a first look meeting. Somehow, we…

Barbie and Chuck’s Engagement Session with the Pittsburgh City Skyline
Barbie and Chuck have a unique engagement story. They had talked about getting married for a while and Chuck had secretly bought a ring. One evening, Barbie was sitting on the couch with pajamas and wine, studying for an exam. She jokingly bet Chuck $10 that they would not be getting engaged that night. A few minutes later, Chuck pulled the coffee table out from under her feet and asked her to get up so that he could proposed. Though she thought “[he] can’t be serious,” he was. And she lost the bet. Chuck has yet to collect his $10. Barbie, I think it’s time to pay up. We got…
